It’s blog posts like this that really make me wish I did YouTube.
So the wait is officially over, tis officially launching tomorrow morning in Ireland. I have all you need to know about the palette before you part with your €46.
If you are following me on snapchat, which you really should be -> user name over there!!!, then you would have had a little sneak peak last week when I attended the launch of the palette. Now I have always been a huge fan of the Naked Palettes as well as the whole range of Urban Decay products but I began to lose my faith in the palettes when the third Urban Decay palette made me resemble someone with a minor eye infection with the mix of pinks and purples. I’ve seen a good few of my friends pull of the Naked 3 palette incredibly well but for me we just didn’t get along well, well all of my iffy feeling about the Naked palettes are gone with the release of the Naked Smoky palette.
While at the event I had the chance to have a play around with the colours and consistency of the shadows. I just have one thing to say PIGMENTED!! These shadows are incredible. One swipe of my finger and they swatched perfectly on my hand. It was love at first swatch!
Along with playing around with the shadows and the amazing brush, more on that later, I also had one of the amazing make up artists from the Urban Decay counter in touch up my eye makeup using the palette. She created a deeper smoky eye and re-did my brows. Safe to say I felt awfully fancy in my sweatpants after the event./
Now on to the whole reason why your reading this blog – !*
First things first – The Packaging!
The Naked palettes have really evolved since the first cardboard packaged one, and this is probably my favourite but yet still has some flaws. Similar to the Naked 2/3 it is encased in a very sturdy plastic case and the mirror is probably the biggest out of the 4 (Woohooo) but one little issue I have is that it is magnetised instead of a closing clasp like previous Naked’s. This would definitely make me worry that it might open in my handbag and the shadows would be destroyed.
I also adore the detail on the packaging, unlike the previous plan metal/ colour appearance of the Naked Palettes 1,2&3 this palette has the most incredible smoky detail on the case, it really makes the palette stand out.
The Shadows!!!
One of the only things that bugs me about the shadows is that they aren’t in order of lightest to dark – like previous palettes. This just bugs me because I am a complete granny and anal about the smallest thing but kinda though I should mention it any way just to get it off my chest, I feel better already!!!
Now on to the more important details. Inside the fabulous casing lies 12 beautiful matte and shimmery shadows. They are,
(Left to right)
High – Champagne Shimmer with Micro Glitter
Dirtysweet – Medium Bronze
Radar – Metallic Taupe with Iridescent Micro Glitter
Armor – Metallic Silver Taupe with Tonal Sparkle
Slanted – Light Metallic Grey
Dagger – Medium Charcoal with Micro Shimmer
Black Market – Jet Black Satin
Smoulder – Deep Plum Taupe
Password – Cool Taupe Matte
Whiskey – Rich Brown Matte
Combust – Soft Pink Taupe
Thirteen – Light Beige Satin
From a ” palette* I really expected there to be quite a number of extremely dark shadows and not a lot of room for a day time look, but with an incredible number of light matte and shimmer shades this really is the perfect day to night palette!
The Brush!!
I strangely never got a brush with my first Naked Palette, instead I received an eyeliner, so I can’t fully compare all 4, but I have 2 & 3 to compare with so that will have to do!!
The New Naked Palette comes with an amazing double ended smudger and tapered crease brush. I haven’t tried it on my eyes yet, but my god does it feel lovely and soft and oh so blendable-y.
Compared to Naked 2 & 3 I really do love the brush for a number of different reason. It has an amazing smudge brush on one end which I 1000% prefer to the flat ends of the previous brushes. I think there is a million uses for this other than just filling in my brows which is what I used to do with the old brush. The tapered fluffy end of the brush is pretty much the exact same as the past 2 brush’s which I adore.
The Naked Smoky Guide
This is an addition to the palette that I don’t remember with any of the other palette’s. In the box comes an amazing little booklet with a break down of the shadows and amazing looks you can create. This is seriously handy for people like moi that actually finds it hard to take risks with my eye makeup for fears of messing it up!!!
The Naked Smoky Palette is available TOMORRRRRROW in & the Urban Decay Counter in House of Fraser in Dundrum. Accordingly there are 8,000+ people on a waiting list for this baby so if you want to snatch it up ASAP pop into at 8am tomorrow morning, as they are opening early
OR Debenhams released the palette early to online shoppers so
